Day 1
Depart the UK on your international flight to Malaysia. We can also arrange flights from other countries or arrange the holiday without flights if you prefer to make your own way to Borneo.
Day 2
Receive a warm welcome on arrival to Kota Kinabalu by your private guide. The rest of the day is free to relax after your flight and enjoy a spectacular sunset. Kota Kinabalu is rated as one of the best places in the world to watch sunset and the sunset bar at your hotel offers a spectacular backdrop to enjoy it.
Day 3
Venture deep into the countryside to experience the culture, history and traditions of Borneo. Meet the Tribe Chief, take a guided tour of traditional Bornean houses, witness a bamboo cooking demo, watch a blowpipe in action and learn how to make fire in a remote forest setting before a fun family picnic. This evening join your guide on a fun foodie tour of Kota Kinabalu.
Day 4
Leave the city behind and head to the Rainforest Discovery Centre in Sepilok, the perfect introduction to the jungles of Borneo. Learn about the biodiversity of the rainforest and take a canopy walk in the treetops looking out for wild Orangutan and beautiful birds. This afternoon head into the Kinabatangan River for your next wildlife adventure - keep your eyes peeled for Pygmy Elephants and crocodiles on your river cruise.
Day 5
Spend a day looking for wildlife on the Kinabatangan River. With eight species of hornbill, Bornean pygmy elephants, over 300 bird species and a whopping ten species of primates, this area’s biodiversity is among the finest in the world.
Day 6
Wake up amongst the wildlife, take a stroll around the boardwalks at your nature lodge and then hop back on a boat to travel onwards to Sepilok. The rest of the day can be enjoyed at your Glamping Villa. Relax by the pool and keep your eyes peeled for wild Orangutan around you.
Day 7
The day is left free to visit the local wildlife centres, including an amazing Sun Bear Centre, Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary or Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Alternatively take a visit to Sandakan to explore local markets, Buddhist temples and museums.
Day 8
After a wonderful discovery of Borneo your next stop is the beautiful Gaya Island. Your private driver and guide will transfer you to the airport for a quick hop flight to Kota Kinabalu. On arrival travel by speedboat to Bunga Raya, your home for the next few days.
Day 9
Explore the island’s jungle trails, snorkel the crystal-clear waters directly off the resort’s private beach or relax under the shade with a cocktail in hand while soaking up the pristine tropical ambience.
Day 10
Another full day at leisure on Gaya Island to enjoy the stunning surroundings.
Day 11
Your final day. It's time to pack up and head home, with incredible memories made and a camera full of photos to treasure. Your private driver will pick you up and transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.
