Located a 15 minute speedboat from the city of Kota Kinabulu and set on the shores of Pulau Gaya, the largest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, Gaya Island Resort is the ultimate spot to relax at the end of any journey through Borneo. In a unique setting the resort is fringed with golden sandy beach, rocky outcrops and lush tropical rainforest with an abundance of flora and fauna. In line with the ecologically sustainable practices Gaya Island Resort is a walking resort with minimal vehicle use.

121 idyllic villas and suites are set into the hills, all offering spacious elegant accommodation using local materials that blend harmoniously with the natural surrounds. Interiors feature grand open bathrooms and dressing areas, contemporary fixtures and outdoor verandas overlooking the emerald jungle below. The largest Kinabalu villas provide the best vistas. Perched on the hillside a slight climb is required to reach your luxurious living quarters, whereas a selection of Canopy villas lie closer to the lobby and Pool Bar making the resort ideal for families travelling with children.

The regional cuisine is prepared fresh by the chefs, with ample choice of dining options for guests. Buffet options are served at Feast Village or dine on  exquisite seafood  at the Fisherman’s Cove. Omakase is the inhouse hillside Japanese restaurant or enjoy casual options and drinks at The Pool Bar & Lounge.

The golden sands of Gaya stretch along the front of the property – sun beds are positioned around the palms and hammocks swing in the breeze, or you can retreat to the 40 metre lap pool to laze on one of the 4 floating cabanas or hidden relaxation dens. A water sports centre is ideal for those keen to snorkel, kayak or paddleboard. Integrated within the resort is the award-winning Spa Village Gaya Island, one of a few spas built in a mangrove setting. A few of the experiences available at the Gaya Island Resort include guided nature walks, traditional crafting lessons, fishing excursions, dive programmes, private beach picnics and coral garden exploration. The excellent service provided by the team will ensure that your stay here is tailored to your exact requirements.
